One Day or Day One is one of only a few comments that have stuck with my in my health journey and if one that I have even repeated to a number of others as well. I was a firm believer for many year of some of those phrases that we all know “I will start tomorrow” as we ALL KNOW that tomorrow never comes.
Now that I am a couple years into exercise of varying types I look back on this phrase and see it as being so true. There are SO MANY reasons to not start now such as
- Start Tomorrow – I want to start tomorrow as then it is starting on a clean day and my head will think that it is cleaner
- I will start Monday – Why monday? because we think it is the start of a week and it lets us have the weekend of eating and doing what we want
- I am waiting for Whatever Month trend is about to start.
- One Day – this is what they all mean
These are all the same things, avoidance! If you want to change then you need to accept the decisions and MAKE IT “Day One not One Day”. The great thing about this is you can START Immediately. It is a chance to make your life cleaner, calmer, reduce risks and concerns and feel much better for the effort.
Start in a small way if you find it hard, if you are like me “All or Nothing”, go for it as the worst you can do is struggle but for every bit of effort you have put in with either changing foods OR doing some exercise it WILL have done something good for you. The more you do the better the benefit and the better you will feel.
There are so many reasons not to do, there are also SO many reasons to do it. So make the decision – IS IT One Day or Day One?
